Competitions
At Blue Sands Academy, we provide opportunities for girls to test and refine their tech skills through a variety of ICT competitions. Our girls have not only excelled but have also received significant recognition on both national and international stages. One of our proudest achievements is being featured in Times Square Towers, New York, which celebrated our success in empowering young women in technology. Our students have won prestigious titles such as the Mandela Washington Alumni Network’s National Beyond School ICT Competition, where they outperformed over 150 schools across Nigeria. In addition, they have secured top positions in the National Girls in ICT Competition, further solidifying Blue Sands Academy’s commitment to excellence in female-led innovation and leadership.
Awards
Our students’ achievements reflect their hard work and the academy’s dedication to equipping girls with critical digital skills. Among our notable accolades are victories in the 2019 ICT for Girls National Competition, which featured fierce competition from over 200 secondary schools in Nigeria. Additionally, Blue Sands Academy was recognized for having the Best Business Idea at the Microsoft-Accelerate Labs competition in 2018, showcasing the entrepreneurial spirit we cultivate in our girls. We also celebrated a nomination by UNESCO for our “Sound Her” initiative as one of the Best Ideas to empower women through ICT.
